ON TRACK : Edgewater World Series Runner-Up Makes Stafford Debut

STAFFORD SPRINGS, CT -- The Covid-19 era of the year 2020 has been a challenging one for sure; but it hasn't ALL been bad!  During these times we saw the birth of both VidaneTV and the World eSeries of Racing, sponsored by Edgewater Screens.  In this series we saw a collection of drivers from all over the state of Florida, with a few outsiders sprinkled in.

One of those outsiders was Rutland, Massachusetts' own Ryan Borges.  Borges was a contender for the entire series as he had 8 top-5's in 9 starts, with two poles; gearing him up for a runner-up finish in the championship points standings behind Ryan Mathews (5 wins).

After wrapping up the Edgewater Screens World eSeries of Racing this past spring, we at VidaneTV decided to pick up the phone and call down to the Rent A Racecar Shop in Berlin, CT.  VidaneTV owner and president, Paul Strickland, spoke with RAR Co-Owner, Gary Spinnato, and were able to set up a date for Ryan Borges to rent the #66 Pro Coat Paint/Rent A Racecar Street Stock at Stafford Motor Speedway this past Friday Night.

Ryan is no stranger to competitive racing as he's run go-karts in the state of Mass for many years, but this was indeed his first start in a full Street Stock.

I had a great time. Obviously it was my first time in a full Racecar after running go karts for a few year so I was just trying to get comfortable. I definitely got used to it quick in practice and was ready to give the car all it had by the time the race rolled around.  Come feature time I was able to pass a few cars, run within a half lap of the leaders and really hang the car out. I definitely cooked the brakes pretty well trying to run with the pack but it was an amazing time getting to be on the big track driving a Racecar! Gotta think Vidane TV, Paul Strickland, Gary Spinnato and RENT a Racecar for the cool opportunity! Definitely want to get back on the track at Stafford and prove that I’m a force to be reckoned with!
-- Ryan Borges

It was great to see another iRacer jump into a car and use what they've learned on the simulation and apply it to real life.  We've done that a few times at Rent A Racecar with different results.  Ryan did not disappoint this time around!  He did a great job keeping the car in one piece warrented at least a dozen people in the paddock area coming over and asking us who the new kid was.  Very impressive first outing!
-- Gary Spinnato, Rent A Racecar Owner

We've been looking forward to Ryan getting into the car since the very close of the World eSeries of Racing and he did not dissapoint!  Ryan did us proud keeping the car in one piece and letting everyone in the area know that the kid can drive!  Look forward to seeing Ryan in a car in the near future!  We really want to thank all of our sponsors as well because without them, we would have never been able to put on such an awesome show on VidaneTV!
